During the last two casts I've tried, the alginate stuck to the models skin so much that it tears and turns inside out when I try to remove the mold. If I apply baby oil first, will the alginate stay in place or just slide off onto the floor?

I've never had alginate stick and I don't use a release, except on hair. Is it possible that the alginate is being held to the skin by suction because it isn't bonded well enough to the supporting mold? That is the only way that I can imagine the alginate sticking to skin. Or is it possible you were using old alginate? All casting materials have a shelf-life and if it has expired that might be the reason why.

Alginate sticking to skin?? HMMM new one on me--Hair would be the only culprit or maybe EXTREMLY dry skin.
